Vortex Flowmeter Installed in Pipeline with Vibration Effect

In recent years, many improvements have been made in the anti-vibration problem of vortex flowmeter by various manufacturing enterprises, and the anti-vibration performance of vortex flowmeter has been significantly improved.


Some can withstand 1G acceleration and some can withstand 2G acceleration.


Vortex flowmeters using force detection are more sensitive to the vibration of pipelines and environment, especially stress vortex flowmeters, which are more sensitive to vibration than other types of vortex flowmeters.


However, for measuring pipelines with strong vibration sources, care should be taken when selecting meters, and anti-vibration design should be especially strengthened during installation and design.




(1) installing a soft connection (such as corrugated pipe) on the upstream of the vortex flowmeter, changing the connection pipeline on the upstream of the vortex flowmeter from rigid connection to flexible connection, which can effectively isolate the transmission channel of vibration;


This method is more effective for medium and small diameter and medium and low pressure pipelines, as shown in the figure.


(2) It is also an effective vibration reduction method to set up support seats on the upstream and downstream (21-3) D of vortex flowmeter to fix the pipeline, as shown in the figure.


(3) In conditional sites, the installation position of vortex flowmeter shall be selected as far away from the vibration source as possible to minimize the impact of vibration.
